And the winners are…
No matter how creative and clever we think we are, very often we are reminded that our ever-so-helpful ScreenFlow users know oh-so-much more than we do, are oodles more creative and *sometimes* more amusing than we are. (We fancy ourselves as being quite amusing ;). This was certainly the case when we decided to ask for help in naming our newest social-progeny – this very blog.
Recently, we posted our plea for blog-title help in the form of a contest on Twitter and Facebook. Well, our community delivered! We had more than 75 suggestions to choose from; it was not easy for us to decide the winner. But in the end, as may be surmised by simply looking at the top of this page, we did finally choose the winner(s)!
Congratulations to Jeff Eaton and Bernd Jaeger, who each submitted winning suggestions. Read a little information about them, and see what their submissions were:
Jeff Eaton:
Jeff submitted the name we thought best fit our blog: “The Screening Room.”
“I’m a longtime Mac user and open-source web developer — I work for a company called Lullabot that does a lot of education and training in addition to development. We blog, we do in-person education, and we’ve even written a book, but we spent a long time frustrated with the available screencasting options until one of the team stumbled across ScreenFlow. Now I use it religiously for short instructional clips for clients, and I produce longer instructional videos with it as well.
“We’ve even used ScreenFlow in the production of a series of training DVDs — capturing from the screen and an HD camera simultaneously. Our video guru can integrate external media (like illustrations and
diagrams) while ScreenFlow handles the video. Even when he leverages Final Cut Pro for more complex editing, ScreenFlow is generating the raw content for us. It’s a great tool, and we’re really looking forward to the release of 2.0.”
Bernd Jaeger
We also loved Bernd Jaeger’s suggestion of “ScreenGenius” so much, we decided to use that as a name of a category in the blog!
“I do a lot of reviews in my blog, and I have found ScreenFlow to be a fantastic way of explaining and showing off the functions and usages of applications. So all my screencasts, which are also posted on my YouTube channel, are produced using ScreenFlow. For me it is the simplest and fastest way of getting a message across. With the upcoming 2.0 I am so happy that a direct export to YouTube is on the feature list.
“I also use it at my office, instead of explaining tasks and other things over and over, I simply do a screencast once. Then my colleagues have a resource they can watch, at their leisure, without having to ask the same things over and over.”
Both Jeff and Bernd won free ScreenFlow upgrades for themselves and five of their friends. Congratulations and thank you, Jeff and Bernd!
