We announced our fake movie trailer contest on July 8, and after a month of sifting through submissions, we’re ready to announce a winner!

This contest was a fun way for us to connect with some of our social networks, interact with our users and see some fun projects from them! Since this was our first contest of this kind there was no way to know how it would go; however, we ended up with some very cool submissions. It showed me that our followers have both good senses of humor as well as the skills to produce some great movie trailers. It was interesting to see people’s interpretations of my rules and what kind of things people thought would make a good fake movie.

Now it is time to announce the winner of our first WirecastTube YouTube contest!

Before I do so I would like to thank all of our participants for taking the time to put something together. I really enjoyed reviewing the submissions and my panel of judges and I had a great time breaking them down and picking our winner. The categories we used to judge the submissions were: length, originality of concept, audio quality, video quality and editing. Additionally, the submissions had to use some original footage and feature a Telestream product in some way. Anyway, enough rambling…I will let you see the winner, a couple of honorable mentions as well as our other top submissions.

Our winner was Cory Oswald’s “Wirecast the Movie,” in which he showed a lot of creativity and innovation while putting together a funny trailer. I would like to point out that while it says “Directed by Eric Norrell,” I did not in fact direct it in any way. While he only claims a producer credit on the trailer, all writing, directing and producing were done by him. That being said, if somehow “Wirecast the Movie” is ever made for real I will demand a starring role and a massive contract that will bankrupt the project.

Now we had two more videos that we wanted to give props to as “honorable mentions.” The first of the two honorable mentions would be from Dizzy Doug TV and is a heartfelt tale of a young weatherman juggling his life, career and tragedy and overcoming it all. Here is “Kevin Andrews.”

The second honorable mention video is “Officer Donut.” Officer Donut is clearly a go getter and was a great submission from Gabe Thomas. With fine police like Officer Donut, I feel safer and you all should too. A funny trailer and a sure-fire box office smash.

Here are some other favorite submissions. Again, I am sorry that everyone couldn’t win! It was great seeing your videos and I hope that everyone’s YouTube channels benefit!

“TechGirlProductions” (Also, a great channel for tech-related videos)
